Historic Ellicott City, Maryland, July 13, 2006 – Johnny’s Bistro on Main LLC, opens with a warm reception from family, friends, store owners, and visitors.

The newly renovated restaurant is located at 8167 Main Street, Ellicott City, MD in the center of this historic town.

Company founder and managing partner, Johnny Breidenbach, says “After living in Ellicott City for the last 19 years, I felt I could bring a fresh approach to Main Street, “Specialty fare with a creative touch” offering fresh innovative sandwiches, tapas fare, paninis, pizza, creative salads, fine wines and beers. The signature deserts such as the bread pudding with bourbon sauce or may I suggest the crème brulee, both are getting rave reviews.
My focus is to have my guest come in and experience a warm and friendly atmosphere, and enjoy the fresh variety of food with a flare at a reasonable price. When I am not cooking I very much like to get out in the dining room and chat with my guest to insure their visit is enjoyable and memorable.”

“I have been in the food business for the past 30 years working with a large international food service corporation and also with a small regional company in Washington catering to law firms.

You have to love the business for the amount of time you need to devote yourself to food preparations, operational standards, developing the people around you and exceeding the expectations of your customers. I guess it all started many years ago at the age of 15, my first job busing tables on President Truman’s yacht docked for a number of years outside of Salem New Jersey. Now I am not that old, let me clarify by saying President Truman sold the yacht to a business man that converted the yacht ( USS Williamsburg) to an on board tour and restaurant facility. Two years later I left for college leaving as the second to the Executive Chef who prior worked at the Coconut Grove in New York City. Phil the Executive Chef took me under his wing teaching me a lot about food at a young age.  Having on the job experience, I supplemented with the academics graduating from RIT with a Bachelors in Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management. I also took classes at Greystone, Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley California.
I have been around food all my life and having some very memorable events, supporting the culinary team preparing the reception for  President Reagan’s Inaugural, catering to Lech Walesa  from Poland, cater to the Prince and Princess of Jordan at National Geographic World Headquarters, and working with some distinguished Austrian chefs in Colonial Williamsburg.
There are many other experiences I could share. Before opening my first restaurant, I had the opportunity for the past couple years working at a law firm housing over 400 attorneys on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC. I was responsible for the daily conference service events, private parties and special events which were quite lavish.
Johnny’s Bistro on Main took three months of renovations before we could open the door to our guest. Having my first restaurant will be a challenge and will conclude my working career. Our first event to break things in was for our family and friends. The evening was memorable but most important it allowed me to have a dry run with the new team.
Over the years, I have learned a lot about business and how to be successful. I had a vision for this space on Main Street and hope to make a difference.
Johnny’s Bistro on Main welcomes our guest to enjoy a warm and memorable dining experience.
We also have an upstairs called the Milltown Pub which includes a full bar and offering a cozy ambiance for your dining experience. Adjacent from the bar we have a private events room which can accommodate 35 to 40 guests for parties, celebrations, and special events.
